Moe no Suzaku
A few months ago, I saw this film "Moe no Suzaku" by Japanese female director Kawase Naomi in Broadway Cinematheque in Hong Kong. She was only 26 years old when she shot this documentary-like fiction.
The movie captures quiet, beautiful and depopulated contryside in Japan. Even to my eyes, Japanese countryside looked so beautiful that I thought we really should make efforts to preserve such small towns.
The director became famous after winning a prize in Cannes for her "Mogari no Mori". I was also planning to watch her "Tarachime" when it was brought to Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2007, but I couldn't go as I had a meeting with my professor...
